China had to learn, through the hard way, not to trust the USA or its allied countries. Through the years, the USA had played alot of really stupid games... like withholding key agricultural product exports to China (and, while at it, making a lot of US$$$ off that game), sanctioning and restricting "high end" semiconductor chip exports to China, sanctioning and restricting software (Google, etc., for use by Huawei) and hardware (e.g., ASML lithography equipment + software) to China. There are way too many examples of the blatent games that the USA had played and will likely continue to play. So... China had learned to be self-sufficient in anything that the USA/allies could do to try to harm China's economy and industrial development. And... Trump is coming to China sometime in the future to smile and shake hands with Xi... and telling Xi that "we are friends and should trust each other". Yeah... okay dokey.

Washington is always well behind the curve, but don't forget most of this is driven not by trying to improve America but by trying to improve their own pockets. Trump Crime family has made fortunes playing the market, getting sweetheart deals that make Hunter Biden and his father's crime family look like amature street punks.
