Some of China's wealthiest industrialists are spending billions to establish private universities, with the goal of building world-class institutes for research and applied sciences.
It rubs me the wrong way “elite” Ivy US universities remain elite by limiting the number of students. No goal was made to expand into different states or countries, or expand the number of teachers teaching and students able to attend.
The best path is expanding public universities. If Chinese billionaires want to spend money to challenge the Ivy’s, I am all for it. US capitalists hate competition.
